In a society where our choices and actions are often dictated by social norms, it becomes crucial to break down barriers and promote inclusivity. The Gender-based Protection Organization (GBP) recently demonstrated this beautifully through their Mental Health Awareness Campaign and Free Haircuts Event that took place on November 11. GBP's mission was not only to raise awareness about mental health issues but also to provide concrete support to the community, particularly to young boys and girls below the age of 15-16. The event wasn't just about haircuts; it aimed to challenge stereotypes and boost self-esteem.

As the sun started to rise on a crisp November morning, volunteers dressed in vibrant t-shirts with messages of empowerment and solidarity gathered at the venue, filled with enthusiasm and purpose. The event began with insightful talks and workshops on mental health awareness led by experienced professionals and psychologists. Participants engaged in open discussions, sharing their experiences and shedding light on the significance of destigmatizing mental health issues.

This charity has been providing pads to schools via its tireless efforts, enabling menstruation girls to attend lessons in comfort and dignity. They have also gone above and above by offering school shoes, realizing how crucial appropriate footwear is to young girls' safety and wellbeing. In addition to meeting physical necessities, this program creates a nurturing atmosphere that helps girls succeed academically and socially.

Germiston  23 march  - The Gender-based protection and Safety is excited to announce the upcoming event "1804 KASI ECONOMIC MARKET," themed "PAD A GIRL CHILD & SHIELD A BOY CHILD." The event aims to provide essential support to girls and boys in need within the community.


Scheduled for March 30, 2024, the event will welcome attendees with an entry fee of R20 for adults. Participants are encouraged to wear pink for ladies and blue for men to align with the gender-specific theme of the event. Donations of various items, including sanitary pads, toiletries, and non-perishable food, are warmly welcomed.


The event will feature stalls available for R200 and attendees are invited to bring their own cooler boxes at a cost of R50. Market-goers can look forward to a variety of offerings, including food, arts & crafts, blankets, and camping chairs.
